Your credit card rights (According to the Fair Credit Billing Act)
Billing Errors and Disputed Charges
Once you have found a problem you should call
your credit card issuer immediately. If you are not getting
much help over the phone, you should write the issuer stating
the problem along with your account number within 60 days. It
is recommended you send the letter certified mail with a return
receipt to make sure it is received. The issuer must acknowledge
the letter in writing within 30 days of receipt. They must then
conduct the investigation within 90 days. You do not need to
pay the amount in dispute unless the findings of the investigation
state otherwise. If they find that you owe the money, then you
must be given an explanation in writing. You will then owe the
amount plus any finance charges.
